Laura Hughes is a writer, editor and performance maker.
Laura works as the Acquisitions and Rights Executive at Bolinda Audio,the number one audio book and large print brand in Australia. Laura is fiction editor for Right Now, a not-for-profit media organisation focused on human rights issues in Australia. She has written for Maggie Journal and Accidental Discharge magazine. Laura works freelance in editing, copywriting and marketing, and writes for the stage with Green Room Award-winning performance collective Grit Theatre, which she co-founded in 2009. She has also sold poetry through Melbourne zine emporium Sticky Institute. Recently, Laura has written Ilbijerri Theatre's 2015 annual report, and was appointed consulting marketing manager for Stella May Fine Foods.
Laura is currently working on two collaborative poetry collections with poets Lec Hunter and Madison Griffiths, a musical with composer Isaac Hayward and a new play with Grit Theatre. She is also working on a solo poetry anthology.
Laura's areas of interest include contemporary performance, contemporary fiction, human rights, feminism and community development as social activism.
